The ‘Single’ Zeppelin NEIPA has been floating around as a festival favourite for Prancing Pony for a while now. The ‘Double’ version first appeared a little over a year ago for a couple of beer festivals in South Australia and GABS Festival in Melbourne. For those that loved the single, the double went down extremely well. Making its way to cans for the first time, we have the Double Zeppelin in our hands, style tagged this time around as a ‘hazy double IPA’ which is sure to appease some of the style guideline watchers.

Lashings of peach and citrus on the nose once the can is cracked. On the palate the mouthfeel definitely feels like a larger version of the lower ABV predecessor. I think the slight name change is a good move as this feels further away from a NEIPA than the original with a slightly amplified but well integrated bitterness and a punchier malt base. The base however does a fantastic job of highlighting that larger intense orange citrus flavour which dominates from here. It feels fuller but perhaps not as creamy as the original, which is definitely not a bad thing.

A big flavour, backed by the Prancing Pony consistency makes for an enjoyable beer. Our rating came out slightly higher than the single and when comparing the two, I think that checks out. Looking forward to more of these limited releases from the Prancing Pony team.
