The Ginache gin is a collaboration between Never Never Distilling Co and cellar door partner Chalk Hill Wines, and is touted as the world’s first Grenache gin. What is ‘Ginache’ you ask? It’s a clever combination of the classic Triple Juniper gin and Grenache grapes from Chalk Hill’s Slate Creek vineyard, married together to create an absolute beauty of a gin.
The bold, deep crimson colour is the first thing that gets your attention when you pour yourself a drink – if you handed this to an unsuspecting friend they could be forgiven for thinking it was a glass of red wine! The gin has a delicate nose with berry and rose petals coming through alongside the juniper notes, which is sweet and inviting.
Sip this one neat if you’re trying it for the first time – the fruity flavours, floral notes and the sweetness of the gin are perfectly balanced and absolutely moreish. If straight spirits are not for you, build it into a drink with soda, or serve it as recommended with a Mediterranean tonic and a wedge of orange.
The Ginache is a limited release with only 2,500 bottles so get in quick if you want to try it.
